Training Swiftpaw and Serpantpaw

Sunsetstar was leading his aprentices Swiftpaw and Serpantpaw into the discombobulating forest. It was a huge confusing forest. The only trees in Skyclan terriotory. He just got done with the clan meeting. He was going to train Serpantpaw for a while until he got a real mentor. He was bringing the two hunting. "Now be safe and stay by me", He looked over to Swiftpaw, "You dont want to get lost in here. I'm bringing you guys hunting''. He flicked his tail, signaling that he was going to start running. He ran fast, knowing that his apprentices would keep up. They needed to strech their muscles. Swiftpaw was by his left side, Serpantpaw on his right. He stopped a mintute later. He diden't let his apprentices stop and catch their breath. They needed to be trained hard. He started going up a hill. Over the hill was the best place for hunting. He could fill his muscles throbing because of the run. "Ok guys. I'll let you rest for a moment and then we'll start hunting". He sat down and put his tail over his paws. He stared at the best hunting place in Skyclan terriotory. There was alot of trees, and bright light skimmed therw. Making it bright and it had a sort of magical sort of feeling to it. It was high up, so there was some mist and fog. The grass was very soft and green; fresh dew ran down because of the rain storm last night. There were some moths and butterflys and dragon flys flying around. Sunsetstar got up. "Ok guys, Time to train".

Sepentpaw ran to catch up to his newly appointed mentor,for now at least.He loved to run and was a sleeker cat so he kept up a decent pace.He flanked his mentor on the right and was surprised when he went uphill.He ran faster to catch up to him.When they sat down to rest he could hardly keep from bursting with excitment.He had not trained in a while.He suddenly got nervous.This time he would be training with his leader.Sunsetstar called them to train and he almost screamed "ready'

As Sunsetstar was climbing up the hill, he was checking on his apprentices therw the corners of his eyes. He was impressed of how well Serpentpaw was doing. Sunsetstar called his apprentices over. "Ok Serpentpaw, since your nine moons old, I first want to see what you got. What your old mentor taught you. Then we can move on from there". He nodded to Serpentpaw to begin. He decieded, he was defitneltly taking him to the next gathering.

Okay, here goes nothing.serpentpaw crouched down and scented for prey.He cuaght the scent of a bird in the nearest tree.Perfect if i catch that,i should have proven i can hunt well.He creeps over to the tree and begins to claw his way up.Ihave know idea why i was so nervous.This should be easy.Its even asleep,stupid bird.He reached the branch,and skillfully crept over and killed it.Unfortunatly the branch gave a little after he killed the bird and he grabbed the bird and jumped to the middle of the tree as the branch fell.He noticed that it almost hit Sunsetstar.Now he was the mouse brain.He should have made sure it was safe first."Sorry,i am fine too."Embarassment made his pelt bristle.

Sunsetstar came forward when Serpentpaw fell. "Are you ok? Okay. Good". Sunsetstar took a deep breath. "Okay. Nice try. Try again". He smiled. "Swiftpaw", He looked over to Swiftpaw, "You copy me''. He got into the hunters crouch and narrowed his eyes. He sented a mouse from over in the tall weeds. He softly went into them, making almost no sound. He leaped, and killed it. He came back out. "Okay Swiftpaw, Serpentpaw, you try".

He placed the bird that he caught down and watched his mentor.He was ammazed at the diffrence between there form and was quick to try and copy it.He crouched and crept into the tall grass.He scented the area.He quickly located a vole and pounced on it killing it in one bite.At least this was a better catch.

Sunsetstar watched amazed at how quickly Serpentpaw grasped what he just did. A quick learner thats for sure. "Swiftpaw, your turn. Serpentpaw, what did your old mentor teach you?". Sunsetstar couldn't help but smile a little. This young cat was fun to train and be with.

Serpentpaw was full of pride from the paise that his new mentor had given him."My mentor taught me the basics.I am best at hunting.My fighting is decent,but i havent learned alot yet.I am good at patroling,in fact that is what we did most of the time."

Sunsetstar could see pride in Serpentpaw's face. He smiled. "Good. Very good. It does look like you know the bases. I'm today, going to teach you, how to catch a bird. Without fallinout of the tree". He chuckled. "What was your mentors name anyway?".

Serpentpaw thought back to the time when his mentor was alive.He rememmbered the bossy Tom,and he still missed him dearly.He had been a young warrior.He died by falling stones.He never had a mate or family.He had alot in common with him.When he died it was heart wrenching.He would make his old mentor proud."His name was Fastclaw."

Sunsetstar suddenly rembered Fastclaw. "Awwww yes. I reamber him. A good cat. Loayl warrior. He was the perfect mentor for you. His death was very sad".

Sunsetstar soon spotted a bird up in the oak tree just a few tail lenghths away. He narrowed his eyes and moved therw the undergrowth. He moved slowly, but fastly. He was fast and made no sound. He got ready and pounced. He climed up the tree with no effort. The blue jay was up on a branch just a little ways away. He started to pounce and jump his way towards to the bird. His muscles flexed. He narrowed his eyes more on his prey. He made one more leap, and that was it. He pranced on the brach and got the bird before it flew away. It didn't even have time to make a sound. He killed it with one swift bite to the neck. He picked up his prey in his mouth and climed down the tree. He dropped and burried his prey under some dirt. "Your turn you two". He nodded to Swiftpaw and then to Serpentpaw.

Serpentpaw studied his metors movments.He watched intently.He was determined not to repeat his mistake.He moved to locate a bird.He say a bird in a nearby tree.He moved with lighter pawsteps.He climbed the tree.This time he checked the branch first.He crept out and jumped at the bird.He bit it, and ran back down the tree.He placed his prey down next to his other two catches and covered them with dirt.Beat that Swiftpaw,he thought.

Sunsetstar watched Serpentpaw. 'Seems to grasp things fast', he thought. "Good job Serpentpaw. Swiftpaw, your turn".

Swiftpaw sat there watching Serpentpaw with growing jealousy. How could that stupid little mangy furball be here? Swiftpaw tried to catch a vole, but the only thing that ended up in his paws was a stick. He did the hunter's crouch almost perfectly though, much better than that other apprentice who had to share his mentor. The looks Serpentpaw were giving him were challenging him to the limits. With confidence increased, Swiftpaw raced off a little ways. There was a bird in the trees. He kept his eyes on it, ever gazing. Finally, he leaped. His SkyClan blood helped so that his back legs pulsed as he jumped. He jumped higher than any other Clan cat could, and snatched the bird. It died instantly as Swiftpaw hit the ground.

Swiftpaw walked proudly back to Sunsetstar. A look Swiftpaw gave Serpentpaw seemed to say "Yeah, I did it. Look out." Swiftpaw turned to Sunsetstar. "Everyone can do hunting, let's do battle training." He gave a slight smile, and glanced at Serpentpaw. You want competition, I'll give you competition!
