Hmmm... how about he is so depressed right now that he doesn't even notice that she likes him. Then, when everyone knows the obvious, she blurts it out or something, and he tries and avoids her for awile. Then he comes back says he's sorry, and I love you. That work? I'll start the thread ASAP.
